Duties: * Supervise and engage with students at all times, * Encourage experimentation, exploration, problem solving, cooperation, socialization, and choice-making; ask open questions and listen respectfully, * Communicate effectively in a positive tone to children, families, and staff, * Be professional and respectful of children, families, staff, and QPCS school. This includes respecting confidentiality, * Ensure that each child is provided with a positive model of acceptable behavior. We have the ability and privilege to be caring role models in their lives, * Provide developmentally appropriate care, games, activities, and play opportunities, * Follow instructions from the lead teacher and program director, * Assist teachers with activity preparation planning, * Use times of problems or conflict to teach children problem solving skills and to redirect children towards constructive activities, * Protect the safety of children and staff members, especially in times of conflict, * Provide immediate, directly related and age appropriate consequences for a child's unacceptable behavior, * Obtain required in-service hours, * Be proactive in seeking ways to learn and improve your own skills, as well as better the program
Additional After School Club Duties: * Enjoy working with children, ages 3-13, * Learn and use online student management system (currently BrightWheel), * Assist students with homework, as needed, * Be able to uphold the rules, including consequences, * Daily cleaning and upkeep.
